LRCA Dominates in 48-6 Win Over Abbeville behind the arm of QB1 Kennan Brown Jr.

In a convincing display on Thursday night, Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy (LRCA) rolled to a 48-6 victory over the Abbeville Wildcats, further asserting their dominance early in the season.

Game Recap

From the opening kickoff, it was clear LRCA came to play. The Tigers executed both sides of the ball with poise and power, while Abbeville found setbacks in trying to match the physicality and tempo. By the end of the first half, LRCA had already built a commanding lead. Abbeville’s offensive highlight came courtesy of Justin Montgomery. Montgomery carried the ball ten times for 116 yards, including a long run of 53 yards, showing flashes of explosiveness despite the deficit.

LRCA’s offense was balanced and consistent, piling up points at regular intervals. Defensively, they bottled up Abbeville’s efforts, forcing turnovers and stopping key drives—limiting the Wildcats to just one touchdown.

Key Players

  • Justin Montgomery (Abbeville) — Despite the loss, Montgomery’s run game stood out. His 116 yards on 10 carries was perhaps the most productive showing for the Wildcats.

  • Kennan Brown Jr. — LRCA’s overall offensive execution and defensive containment were central to the win. Kennan threw for 250 yds on 18/28 with 4Tds.

Implications

  • For LRCA: This victory improves their record to 2-0, reinforcing preseason expectations. Their scoring average is strong (over 40 points per game) and their defense shows they can limit opponents. Momentum seems firmly with the Tigers.

  • For Abbeville: The Wildcats fall to 0-2. While Montgomery’s performance provides something to build on, the team will need to shore up consistency, especially in defensive execution and preventing big plays.

Looking Ahead

LRCA will hit the road next, facing Ville Platte on September 19 at 7:00 p.m. They’ll aim to keep their winning streak alive and build on this strong offensive and defensive showing. Abbeville, meanwhile, heads into their next matchup against Ascension Episcopal, also on the 19th. A chance to bounce back, but they’ll have to resolve some of the issues exposed by LRCA.

Conclusion

In sum, LRCA’s 48-6 win over Abbeville was a statement game: a mix of offensive firepower, disciplined defense, and strong individual efforts. For Abbeville, it was a learning experience—one that showed the gap they may need to close if they want to compete at LRCA’s level. The Tigers, for now, look like a team to watch in the early stretch of the season.
