After a statement win in their home opener against nationally ranked UIW to start the season 1-0, the Nicholls Colonels traveled to Alabama to face the Troy Trojans, where they fell 38-20. Nicholls held the lead from early in the second quarter through much of the third, but Troy responded with a dominant fourth quarter, limiting the Colonels to just a field goal while putting up 28 points of their own.

Nicholls St. showed flashes with some explosive plays, but struggled to find consistency against the trojans front seven. The win gives Troy St. a solid start to the season while Nicholls and first-year head coach Tommy Rybacki looks to bounce back this weekend as the Colonels aim for a 2-1 record. Nicholls will host West Georgia on Saturday night at John L. Guidry Stadium in Thibodaux, with kickoff set for 6:00 p.m.
